School Programs

Attention Teachers

Since 1972, the Stratford-Perth Archives has promoted  interest in history with hands-on activities for students at both the elementary and secondary school levels.  By examining the past, we can better understand the present and prepare for the future.

If there is something that you are interested in that is not listed here, it may be possible for us to develop something for your class.

Archives staff are happy to assist student researchers but appointments are recommended for group visits.

Archives staff can also visit schools with presentations.

Programs that have been done include:

  • History of Stratford as seen in its buildings and architecture on a guided walking tour
  • Researching the life of a World War I soldier using archival records and on-line sources
  • Paper conservation
  • Researching your family history
  • In-class presentations on many aspects of local history and an overview of doing research using primary source material

We Offer:

  • Work placements for secondary co-operative education students
  • Assistance with celebrating Heritage Week, school anniversaries or similar events
  • Assistance to teachers in designing practical research projects
  • Access to primary documents relevant to a wide variety of topics and subject areas

Fees

Please note that there are no fees for using any of these resources.
