Gas Tax Projects

Background

A Stable and Predictable Federal Gas Tax Fund

Canada’s Gas Tax Fund transfers $746 million to Ontario municipalities each year for environmentally sustainable infrastructure.  Since the launch of the fund in 2005, Ontario municipalities have invested more than $2.1 billion of funding into more than 3,800 infrastructure projects worth over $6.7 billion.

Originally launched as a five-year program, Canada’s Gas Tax Fund has now been made permanent through federal legislation. Municipalities in Ontario can rely on the Government of Canada as an essential long-term partner in the building of our communities.
